Victorian Vigilantes, and Other Stories

There are a couple of memes going around that I'm thinking about doing (I never do memes, but I was tagged for one, and the other's kinda cute, so). And I rather like the idea of the accent meme, except that I'm technologically inept and I hate my voice with the fiery power of a thousand red-hot suns. So it looks like those of you who don't know what I sound like will probably remain ignorant. LOL Sorry :D

Either way, it's too late and I'm far too tired to be doing anything like that now (I finally got my first overnight of the year in on Friday. 26 hours straight awake kinda takes it out of you :(. I was completely whipped all weekend, and not exactly with it today). I may have something to post soon that I've been working on since last August though, so yay :). That'll need beta-ing and tidying up and generally battering into shape though, so instead, have a couple of songs, one short but super-pretty, and one kind of violent but lots of fun :)

The first is the lullaby from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. It's disappointingly short but so pretty.

And a complete change of tone: Victorian Vigilante from Abney Park's new album, End of Days. This is my favourite track on the album so far, it's just fab.

For pretty obvious reasons, this kind of reminds me of Mack the Knife, which I've always loved.

(In many ways, I almost prefer the Ute Lemper version, but I don't speak German, so).

Not too much on the real life front to talk about. Too much fab stuff to watch and read and not enough time to do it in.
(Also, I was rather disappointed to miss the opportunity to own my own copy of the book with possibly the best name EVAR, to whit "The Loathsome Ratmen and All Their Vile Kin" (it's a Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay book on Skaven, in case you're wondering. It started at a fiver on eBay and was at over £50 last time I looked. I mean, it's not that I'm that massively keen on reading it, it's just that I really love the name. But I'm not paying that sort of money just for a cool name. Ho hum)).

(Oh, and yesterday I discovered that someone had posted Rob Inglis's unabridged reading of The Lord of the Rings on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSLA1ejHQVM, in 10 minute segments. Which, given that it's over 50 hours long, is an awful lot of segments. I was listening to it in bed last night but it's kind of annoying having to key up a new bit 10 minutes at a time. Ho hum).

Erm, yeah, so I'm kind of rambling about nothing much now. Maybe I'd better go to bed.
*hugs all*
Have fun :)

Yay, thank you :)
I suppose, like most people, I just hate listening to my own voice. Even after all this time I just can't get used to it :(

I'm really glad you're looking forward to it! It's been such a slog, and I've been agonising over it for months. I don't know if this chapter really works, but we'll see, I guess :D

Hopefully we can speak soon! It's been ages!
