People suck. I mean, really ( AKA - Fandom fuckery)

So, I woke up this morning to discover that the whole fandom of the first show I've become completely emotionally invested in since Buffy has gone completely to shit, all because of the actions of one or two spiteful little people. And it sucks. Really, really hard.
Maybe I'm too old to get so upset about something so relatively unimportant, but it turns out I'm not.
So yes, upset, angry, hacked off and chain smoking, because I'm too fucking fucked off to care that it's bad for me.
People suck.
People suck.
People really fucking suck.

That is all.

It would take too long to explain, and sound entirely ridiculous if I tried.
There's a reason that I try to keep an emotional distance from things over which I have no control and are, in the scheme of things, not that important. If I let it happen this is the result: me, total ranty mess.

More evidence supporting a theory (http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/3/19/) which has been proposed elsewhere in a different but equivalent context.

What follows from this is that once you are emotionally invested in anything on the internet (involuntarily or not), well that's pretty much the equivalent on bending over to pick up soap in prison showers.

Aaah, yes a gif of that has been doing the rounds as an lj icon for a while. Extremely appropriate :)

Not a huge fan of the prison rape reference, but tis a reasonable point.

I do seem to be coming up with some rather florid analogies recently. Still, you can thank me later, all part of the service.

I'll do that,if you're who I think you are, and not some random LJ stalker ;). So, name begins with J, live not a million miles from Madrid? Am I warm?

Ooh, and there was me enjoying being all anonymous (surprised LJ lets you post anonymously tbh).

I never bothered to disable anonymous comments, though I nearly did when I freaked a bit after your first one, before I figured out who it was. Of course, you've just confirmed what I asked, so there's no guarantee you are who you say you are ;)
