This year is the centenary of Mervyn Peake's birth so there's an excuse to use my Mervyn Peake icon, and there's also this:

If you know the books, and hell, even if you don't, I'd definitely recommend checking out the radio series. It's really very good. Of course, Peake's writing makes the story, which is why adapting it is never entirely successful, but this one is the best it could be, I think.

Hee, it's Gormenghast. You have a misplaced 'h' :)

I know what you mean about adapting. Peake is one of those authors I never got around to reading, my concentration is so shocking I don't get through enough books.
