E.N.T. 101
Jun. 11th, 2006 07:21 pmAlmost fully recovered, I think, with a couple of days to run on the antibiotics. The last week has been full of exciting new pain - my sinuses have never really been my friends, but I must have done something to really piss them off this time....
Either way, my sense of smell started to return on Friday, after the last serious kick off that morning and early afternoon when every one of the little bastards
- as Google puts it "Blockage of the frontal sinus causes pain in the forehead that worsens when you bend forward. Blockage of the maxillary sinus often gives pain in the cheek or in the upper teeth, " - and, bizarrely enough, the roof of the mouth -"If the sphenoid sinus is blocked, symptoms are often transferred to the ear or the area behind the ear. Occasionally, you feel pain on the top of the head or get a feeling that the eyes are being pushed out from behind. Blockage of the ethmoid sinus causes pain and tenderness alongside the nose" - was going at once. Since then there's been a fairly steady improvement, so now I'm just feeling the occasional twinge.
Of course, after 2 weeks of being completely wiped out I'm now a bundle of energy. All positive and up and ready to be all achievey person - I even fixed the puncture in my bike that I've been meaning to sort out for the last two (count them, TWO) years, and made three appointments to look at houses tomorrow and Tuesday. And I actually found myself getting excited at the idea of moving. There has also been rather half-hearted looking at cars (as part of a 2 hour wander this afternoon, so exercise too ...), but it would take the intravenous application of large quantities of seriously mind altering substances to get me excited by looking at cars, thank you very much.
Either way, to quote the Depeche Mode song that's rather coincidentally just come on "I haven't felt so alive in years". Maybe that's putting a bit strongly, but still... Bouncy. Bouncy is good :).
The trick, of course, is to make it last ...
To change the subject, it's Cosi's birthday on the 15th, and she's planning on having her bash at Torture Garden on the 17th June, next Saturday (don't worry, there won't be any descending on anyone at this short notice :), we're staying with a friend of Cosi's in Rotherhithe). It's at Hidden again, in Vauxhall (irritatingly south of the river). Very short notice, but if anyone finds themselves at a loose end next weekend and fancies playing dress up, the more the merrier, and it would lovely if you could be there.
I hope everyone's having fun.
Hugs :)
