I should be gaming tonight, but I really couldn't handle even the idea of company, so I'm just hermitting, and watching Community, which has become my happy place :)

Back in Liverpool and back to work after a very pleasant week away. Now I have to sort out all that building work that I was putting off until after I came back (which my insurance doesn't cover. There's a shock :/). But it's Friday night so that can wait for a little bit longer.
On the plus side, game night is back to the Warhammer 'Enemy Within' campaign, which YAY nostalgia :D. This instalment is Death on the Reik, which I think we played all the way through when it was first published back in 1987 (LOLscary :D), although I don't remember any of the plot. I know we didn't get as far as the next part (Power Behind the Throne) because Steve started to read it and threw up his hands in defeat (from what I've heard it's long, extremely complex and not the slightest bit linear, so it's a bit of a nightmare for a GM to run. Our current GM seems to be happy to face the challenge, though, which is nice). Not much has changed since we played part 2 (Shadows Over Bogenhafen) last year. We're still ridiculous, immature, and entirely incapable of coming up with a coherent, well thought-out plan without resorting to hitting things. So, to put it briefly, it's a lot of fun :D

Anyway, for lack of much else interesting to say, I'm going to spend a little while spamming you with pretty pictures and stuff.
Firstly, here's a few pictures of Chipping Campden, where we stayed last week. Specifically, it's the outbuildings of Old Campden House, which was built by the fabulously named Sir Baptist Hicks at the end of the 16th Century and destroyed 50 or so years later, in the Civil War (the Hicks were Royalist, which the Roundheads obviously had something to say about). What remains (there were separate banqueting houses and whatnot) is still rather lovely though.

So, I changed service provider, because my connection was intermittent at best and ridiculously slow. And that meant being without the internet for a whole week. And yes, I have limited access at work, and I resorted to cafes with wireless connections a couple of times, but god, it was painful.
I'm not quite sure when the internet stopped being something that was kind of useful for buying out-of-print books on eBay and became an absolute and fundamental necessity of life. I know it happened even before there were people in my life with whom the internet's my main form of communication, but obviously that makes all the difference.
Which is all to say, I don't post all that much, so you probably mostly haven't noticed that I've been gone, but I've missed you guys.
I have so much to catch up on, and so many comments to write. It may take me a while :)

God, so busy. And obviously today I managed to fritter away most of today being all knackered and needing recover from the rest of the week. Annoying! (Also annoying: a boiler that only works about 50% of the time, and so I have to boil water to wash the other 50%. Twice, I've had someone to look at it, but because the fault is intermittent, it's kind of hard to track down. If it carries on, he'll have to start replacing the expensive bits. Boo).

The Skins Big Bang seems to be a massive success, and I'm very much enjoying my beta-ing duties. I occasionally think I've bitten off a little more than I can chew, but hey, I like doing it, so (it's like: I have actual permission to be pedantic at people, and they can't complain. How good is that? :p ).
And talking of the Skins BB, our glorious leader (AKA shan_3414 :)) made this a few days ago, and god, it's so lovely. It makes all kinds of nostalgic. Just beautiful.
