Tired and old - it must be January again
Jan. 14th, 2008 10:11 pmThe darkest depths of Winter and, as usual for this time of year, my energy levels are through the floor, despite the fact that I've actually managed to do proper exercise three times in the last week. All I want to do is sleep, and getting anything at all done, especially in work, is an uphill struggle.
Christmas was, as far as it can be, painless enough. My elder niece, who's 8, is getting to the point where you can have a conversation with her, which is nice. The younger is sweet enough but very clingy. She seems to like me, bizarrely, but I'm afraid I can only deal with children, even my own relatives, in very small doses. 1 day a year is enough. I shall, however, wait with bated breath for news of their first screaming arguments with their neurotic control freak of a mother ...
Having had my fill of family by the Sunday, New Year's Eve saw me waking up in my own bed. With a headache which refused to go. So my New Year's Eve celebrations involved a sofa, a duvet, a couple of episodes of Dr Who and bed before midnight. Oh well, other than the pain, there are worse ways to spend New Year.
I'll be down in the Smoke this weekend where, energy permitting,
lareinemisere and I (I wonder, do you think we'll be able to persuade
corone to join us? ;) ) are planning to do Blood and Velvet on Friday and Invocation on Saturday. If anyone else happens to be going in that direction 'twould be fab to see you.
I really must sleep now. A belated Happy New Year to all.
