Old, tired, achey
Jan. 25th, 2009 04:21 pmThirty seven? How did that happen? And does it mean I have to be a grown-up? I'm hoping not ...
It's been a very pleasant birthday week, all in all. Of course, yesterday I paid the price for my habit of forcing anything that will fit, down the kitchen sink by spending an hour on my knees in the yard, up to my elbows in foul, icy water, because the drain had finally completely blocked up. Not the most enjoyable thing I've ever done. And then, in one of those supreme moments of rationalisation that we're all capable of at one time or another I decided to spend the money I'd saved by not calling in a plumber on shoes. Because obviously I need more shoes ...
Last Saturday was Invocation. Only my third time in three years but still my favourite London club. Fab company (thanks guys :)), a gorgeous venue, a nice mix of music, and friendly people. But why does it have to be in such an awkward place?
Assuming my car lasts the journey, I'm Smokewards again next weekend, to see Wayne Hussey. Now, I've never been a huge fan of The Mission, but I've heard good things about him live, so tis worth a look, I think.
The rest of my week has been quiet but fun: lots of food, pressies, and gaming, and very little work. Today though, I've been sinusy, washed out and generally meh. I always feel lethargic and uninspired when my sinuses are punishing me, which may explain why this post is both short and dull. Ho hum. I think tonight will be pain killers and an early night.
