To live at all is miracle enough
Aug. 7th, 2009 11:20 pmMainly because I now know how to upload pictures to this thing, here is what I'll always think of as the iconic image of Mervyn Peake. It was taken in 1935, so he would have been 24 years old: beautiful,charming, charismatic, extraordinarily talented. It's perhaps a little silly that the fact of his long final illness and tragically early death makes me cry (although no more silly than the fact that I have such a crush on a man who's been dead for 40 years).
I shamelessly stole his epitaph (the title for this post) for my dad's grave stone, because if you're going to steal, you may as well do it from someone you love, right?
