I'm so sorry I've take so long to answer this. I've been not been feeling too great recently, and I wanted to make sure that I gave your comment the response it deserved. Seriously, this is the loveliest comment, it rather blew me away. I'm not sure I deserve it, but thank you so much for it.
First of all, the 'Hhhhhot' :). I know we've talked about the technical aspects of writing smut before, and how it tends to be a rather mechanical process, and also that it's often impossible to know if something's hot when you're writing it. Given that, it's always wonderful and reassuring to be told that it works :)
Pansy's kind of difficult. She'so incredibly unpleasant in canon, like with no redeeming features whatsoever. Much like Draco, really. I've just reread The Chamber of Secrets, and Draco on more than one occasion wishes out loud that the Basiilisk had killed Hermione and its other victims. Gah. Just horrible. But that sort of one-dimensional awfulness isn't that interesting to write, and I love Pansy because it's possible to take that and explore the reasons that she's like that. Just as Katie Fitch initially appears to be an irredeemable bitch but it becomes apparent after a while that that results from a whole raft of insecurities. It's hard not to see Pansy like that, once you start thinking about it.
Ginny and Pansy work for me because I see them as being alike in many ways. Pansy's Ginny's dark reflection. And also, they're really, really hot together :D. And Luna? Luna's always wonderful, and she's so much fun to write. For some reason, in my head she's also a total perv too :p
One day I'd like to be able to write something that's pure and simple PWP, but, honestly, I just can't. Mainly I think, because it just doesn't work for me if there's not some modicum of story, and some insight into motivation and emotions. God, the set up of this took me so long. I was writing it in breaks at work, and I write slowly. After about two weeks of writing, everyone was still fully clothed. I felt like it was never going to get finished, and I really started to doubt that it was going to work. I actually had everything fairly closely plotted out in my head (as far as you need to plot out porn) but getting it all down was such a struggle.
What you say about non-penetrative sex is really interesting. I must admit that it didn't even really occur to me in that way when I was writing it. While it took a while to get there, the actual sex just kind of flowed from the personalities of the three people involved, and their respective experience. (For example, although Pansy's generally quite dominant, I think, the whole situation was new to her, so she's going to be rather more passive). And the image I had in my head from the start, the one that I really wanted to include, was that of Ginny and Luna both riding Pansy and kissing as they come. Because, you know, HOT :D.
(As far as Pansy goes, I actually ship her with Hermione. I'd rather like to write them one day)
You write about female sexual pleasure incredibly well!! ;) Honestly, you have no idea how wonderful, and flattering, it is that you should say that. I do take a lot of time over this sort of stuff, even when it's 'just porn' because I want it to be believable and also - and this is going to sound strange too, maybe - respectful. I want it to be as real as possible, and the fact that it seems to work for you in that way means a lot to me. (Of course, I have a female beta and I'd never consider posting something like this without getting it checked out first, because bad smut is just the worst :)).
It was also important to me that, even while all this was going on, it was clear that Ginny and Luna love each and this wasn't about them wanting to have sex with other people, but was more like being with each other in a different way. I ship them so hard, I could never have them cheat on each other, hence the reason this isn't Pansy/Luna only, as it was when I originally got the idea.
