What Sundays are for ...

So many emails to write, and comments to write/answer, and a killer case of writer's block to try and get over. Also, a to-read pile that makes me weep to look at it (I figured out a few years ago that it would take me at least five years to read the books I own that I haven't read yet. It would probably be more like 10 now. On the plus side, I'm sure they'll make excellent kindling when the zombie apocalypse comes. For which the following advice may be useful:D
Photobucket). However, I'm ridiculously tired and my sinuses are kicking off, so instead I'm spending the evening watching DVDs and spamming LJ with pretties. So, not too much change there then.

Specifically, it's fanvid time. Cos I know you don't have more important things to do than watch cute vids with pretty people in :0
Firstly, Doctor Who, combined with Ellie Goulding. Yay \o/

(By the way, can I just put this here too?
Photobucket

*sigh*)

And apparently it's only about 40 days to the release of the final Harry Potter film. Exciting! So this would be a good time to post this (which is fabulous):

and to repost this (which is one of my favourite fanvids ever, and it always makes me cry. For I am lame :D).

In other news, last night was the Adam Ant gig, which, much to my great surprise, was amazing. I only went because Cath's a fan and she didn't want to go on her own (it was her birthday on Friday and I failed on getting her what she really wanted, which was Dave Grohl appearing from a birthday cake, clothing optional. It turns out that the internet isn't a lot of good for fulfilling requests like that, and even googling "Dave Grohl naked birthday cake" doesn't really help a hell of a lot :(). Really, until last night I'd only heard Prince Charming, Goody Two Shoes, Stand and Deliver, and Ant Music, and I'm honestly not that keen on punk, so his earlier stuff didn't have that much appeal either. But it turns out that he's just fabulous as a front man: amiable, self-deprecating, funny and (despite apparently remaining faithful to the dictum that punk rockers shouldn't be overly competent in the musicianship department) an excellent performer. Basically, it was just lots of fun. Also, given that he's pushing 60, he still looks amazing. Mind you, he was an extraordinary looking man when he was younger, so he has an unfair advantage I guess :).
So yes, for all his well-publicised problems, it's good to know that he's still got it :D

All in all, it was a fab night, and it certainly made me feel less old than when I saw Ellie Goulding at the end of last year, when I was a good decade and a half older than most of the audience. I was positively young compared to some of the old punks who were there last night. Yay me :)

What else?
Oh yes! I finally weakened and got a Tumblr account. I'm prunesquallormd there too. So if you're there and I'm not following you let me know!
I still don't really know what it's for, apart from presenting an endless stream of pretty pictures. Maybe that's enough? Either way, I seem to have developed a rather large crush on Naya Rivera because of it. Given the state of my dashboard, I suspect that I'm not alone ;p

And that's it!
My Twin Peaks/BSG/Glee rotation has clicked over to the 4 episodes of BSG section again. It's evil Admiral Caine time. Yippee :D

Have fun, all ♥

I'll go follow you on Tumblr. :) I have two Tumblrs myself:

http://majesdane.tumblr.com (the pretentious photo/quote prompt one)
http://five-items.tumblr.com (the fangirling/everything else one)

[identity profile] prunesquallormd.livejournal.com 2011-05-29 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay :)
I've followed you back.

I've been meaning to catch up on your posts recently but things have been really busy. We have yet another bank holiday here tomorrow though (yippe!) so hopefully I'll get a chance to go comment.
I hope life's good with you. <3

[identity profile] youtoxic.livejournal.com 2011-05-30 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yay, you got a tumblr! Following you.

Here's mine.
http://youtoxic.tumblr.com/

I don't blame you for your Naya Rivera crush. I can relate. Which reminds me, I have to rush out now because someone just posted a meta on Quinn/Santana shipping, which I just have to read.

Take care Si.

Cool :)
I followed you back!

Glee is so much fun, and pretty much a mult-shipping paradise, so yay :D

I hope life's good with you :)

Yeah, tumblr is pretty much a string of pretty pictures/interesting quotes/funny memes. Some people actually use it as a real blog I suppose, but I don't really follow any of those people :)

And no you are certainly not alone in being more than a little in love with Naya Rivera. I think staring at pictures of her is a perfectly acceptable pastime myself. ;P

Also, lol, zombies. I'm not sure why everyone is so certain the zombie apocalypse will soon be upon us. I'm far more concerned about the Singularity and the robot apocalypse myself. /nerd

[identity profile] prunesquallormd.livejournal.com 2011-05-31 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I've loved some of the things that you've blogged recently. Pretty and inspiring :)

I never really saw the attraction of Santana until I saw Naya out of the cheerleader's uniform and without her hair pulled back like all the time. Not a good look for her! She's so much prettier as herself :D

LOL I don't know what it is about zombies either. People kind of love them, who knows why. I'm just finishing of Max Brooks's 'World War Z', which is fabulous, so I'm kind of on a zombie kick!
The Robot Revolution is definitely more of a risk though. Never trust a toaster :p
(Singularities are black holes, yeah? (LOL nerd-fail :D). I'm less worried about those than the cylons coming to get us, but we'll see!)

I was a big fan of Adam Ant back in the day and yes, he must be about 57 now, but look at the Stones, they are all pushing 70!

I keep forgetting to update Flickr and Tumblr. I will add you on Tumblr but all I do is post recipes.

[identity profile] prunesquallormd.livejournal.com 2011-05-31 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, if you get the chance you should definitely go see him live. He's just fabulous!

I've followed you back! You're a vegetarian too, yeah? I can always do with more veggie recipes. I know about 3!

[identity profile] magenta-dawned.livejournal.com 2011-05-31 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw him back in the day, so it would be interesting to see him again now!

Yeah, I am veggie but also wheat and dairy free so I have to do all my own cooking, no ready meals for me! Thing is I never measure anything so sometimes I may use too much or too little of something!!

[identity profile] prunesquallormd.livejournal.com 2011-06-01 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a little like that on the relatively rare occasions that I cook anything other than my standard chili (which is just tins of kidney beans, tins of tomatoes, lentils, and chillis, so it hardly takes accurate measuring :D). My attempts so rare come out how they're meant to, it's depressing.

I've been vegan for the last 10 years or so but I've really been struggling to keep on the straight and narrow recently, so I can only sympathise with having to be entirely wheat and dairy-free too!

[identity profile] magenta-dawned.livejournal.com 2011-06-01 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I have goats/sheeps cheese tho, and free range eggs. It's very challenging to cook without them. All vegan foods seem to have wheat in them cos my sis in law is vegan and we cannot eat together unless I cook everything myself.

Can I just say I love you for leaving that Doctor Who video, there, because it's consisting a lot of The Doctor's Wife and I do so love the TARDIS <333 THAT WAS SUCH A GOOD EPISODE HNNNNG

also I'm following your tumblr like. Now. I feel so accomplished for introducing you to the show, because now you're just another in the growing fanbase for Naya. She's such a pretty person<3 And she gets her own album, soon. I BET YOU CAN'T GUESS WHAT I'M WASTING MY MONEY ON.

[identity profile] prunesquallormd.livejournal.com 2011-05-31 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
You're welcome! :D
The Doctor's Wife was hands down my favourite episode of this season. It was amazing <3<3<3
Mind you, it was written by Neil Gaiman, who's just fabulous (and if you haven't read Good Omens, by him and Terry Pratchett, you really must. It's just <3).

I love you for making me watch Glee. It's so ridiculous a lot of the time, but so much fun. And Naya and Heather are ridiculously pretty and adorable, so.
MUSIC YOU LOVE IS NEVER A WASTE!!!
♥♥♥

I have, I have. Neil Gaiman is basically a literary genius, I should say, but I was unaware he had written The Doctor's Wife. This is even more fantastic <333

The show is definitely one of the most ridiculous out there for now, for sure, but it's all in good fun. No one can be cuter than Naya or Heather, especially when they're together. ♥

NAYA'S VOICE IS AMAZING AND I WANT HER ALBUM SO BAD.

[identity profile] prunesquallormd.livejournal.com 2011-06-07 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I've just got to the end of season 1, which was fabulous. I loved the excuse that Sue gave for backing out of finishing off Will at the end. It was perfect, because obviously she couldn't give the impression that she had any sort of sympathy for them :)

When's the album out? It can't be long now, surely?

[identity profile] sushizuzoru.livejournal.com 2011-06-08 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Sue really does care in her own morbid sort of way. But she's also crazy, so. It's hard to tell. I do just really like how they made Quinn going into labor the big musical number, though XD Always fantastic.

And her album doesn't have a set date yet, I don't think, but it's been confirmed that she's definitely accepted the record deal.~

Love the Zombie poster,
it is now adorning the back of the set at my show.
(which being set during the war is quite apropriate.)

[identity profile] prunesquallormd.livejournal.com 2011-06-01 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it's excellent advice, and you never know when you might need to be ready to face the undead hordes!
I hope the new show's going well :)
<3

Loving all of those vids!! And I'm so looking forward to HP, I can't even. :)

I don't use tumblr but I've bookmarked you so I can keep a track. Lol, you know how I like to lurk. And, OMG, right with you on the Naya crush, she's gorgeous. :P

Oh my, Twin Peaks. I used to love that program. It was literally required viewing in high school.

♥♥♥

[identity profile] prunesquallormd.livejournal.com 2011-06-05 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Only about 6 weeks to go to the Deathly Hallows. YAY :D

LOL Lurker ;) (One of my favourite lurkers though, so ♥ ).
I didn't really get the attraction of Naya at first - that cheerleader's uniform doesn't do her justice - but she's grown on me rather a lot!

High School :D
Now you're just trying to make me feel old ;P
