prunesquallormd: (TheDoctorIsIn)
My best Easter ever.
But gods I'm tired.
I got back from London some time after 11pm on Monday night. 210 miles in a little over 3 hours. Well, I kept to the speed limit on average ...
There are times when, despite all fears and expectations to the contrary, everything goes exactly as you hope it will. It doesn't happen very often but that just makes it all the better when it does.
The family thing on Thursday could have been horrendous. Obviously Mum managed to work herself into a frenzy of nerves, but then that's to be expected when she's descended on by two sons who could most generously be described as difficult, a daughter-in-law for whom that description would be far more than generous , and two small children. But, wonder of wonder, no arguments. In fact, Clive and I actually had a normal unstilted conversation for the first time in years....
So, with the family duties out of the way, it was on to the fun stuff, to wit dressing up then B-Movie. Which was just FAB. I tend to be anxious in clubs - as I said on Monday, people scare me, although I find them endlessly fascinating, but for once, once I'd managed to relax a little (my default mode is uptight, although I hope I hide that at least most of the time) I felt utterly comfortable. Nice people, good music, and so much great hair. Very jealous :) . I hope [livejournal.com profile] corone and [livejournal.com profile] lareinemisere had as good a time as I did.
And Camden market was also lots of fun :).
It was also good to see Chris and Steve on Saturday night, although it was a teensy bit more drunken than I'm generally comfortable with ...
And a surprisingly pleasant museum trip on Sunday with Mum and Bill (still feels odd describing him as her boyfriend, as neither of them are much short of 70...). Although, as I'm so completely tactile, museums are complete torture for me. Whole buildings of things that I can't touch. Who came up with that idea?
Monday contained great company and nice food - two of my favourite things (and also 250 odd miles on the motorway - less of a favourite.)
There are times when I find myself surprised and overwhelmed by the fact that I have such wonderful friends. I'm never quite sure what I've managed to do to deserve them, but to the ones who will never read this, and to the ones who will, thank you.
I love you all:)
