Unbelievably tired, headachey, and tinnitus from hell tonight.
So meme-age, then Buffy, then bed.
[livejournal.com profile] lareinemisere gave me an 'I'. And it was surpringly hard to come up with five songs that I not only like but actually have some sort of emotional impact on me (yes, I know that wasn't necessarily in the rules but still ...), but eventually I came up with:-
Independence Day - Ani Difranco. Simple, beautiful, this contains one of the most brutal descriptions of the pain of a break up I've ever heard: "Did I ever tell you how I stopped eating when you stopped calling me? / Cramped up/ Shitting rivers for weeks / and telling myself I was finally free".
I Am Stretched On Your Grave - Traditional (I've heard versions by Kate Rusby, Stringybark McDowell and Sinead O'Connor, but I'm sure there are loads of others). Again with the pain, I know, I'm a maudlin sod. Hauntingly, achingly beautiful.
In My Time of Dying - Led Zeppelin. I was a massive fan as a teenager, and while I can't really listen to a lot of their stuff now, because it brings back all sorts of memories, this is still pretty stunning.
In Your Room - Depeche Mode. Which takes me all the way back to finals. I used to love exams, strangely - probably because they force you to completely focus, so you don't get the time to worry about anything else - so these are happy memories. And it was a very good year.
I'm Your Man - Leonard Cohen. You need a reason? It's Leonard Cohen!

All done.
Hugs to all
