Tempus, as they say, fugit

Oh my god, it's half way through the year. I shouldn't be surprised that it seems to be going by so fast, it always, always does, and yet. It's like the surprise I always feel when the days get longer in the summer and shorter in the winter. I mean, it's been doing that literally forever (well, since the world's existed anyway, which is a close to literally forever as makes no odds, for all practical purposes). And yet I still manage to be surprised. Much like a goldfish constantly wondering at the same tiny bowl XD
So yeah, it's been a busy, busy, busy few weeks and the last few months has just flashed by. I have every intention of spending the next month or so, during which I have exactly no social commitments barring the usual gaming stuff, doing very little except catching up with my reading, writing and teevee watching. And god, I have so much to catch up on. Season 3 of Fringe (which I'm still very much enjoying), season 2 of Pretty Little Liars, season 1 of The Killing (a recommendation from Cath, though I know plenty of other people who rather like it). Season 3 of Merlin too.
On the less successful TV front, this year I've tried and completely failed to like Damages (a show with no sympathetic characters whatsoever. Not something I'm ever going to enjoy), the original V (a Christmas present so I tried really hard to like it, but 80s sci-fi has a strong tendency to be more than a bit rubbish!) and the 80s series of Dark Shadows (much the same applies to 80s fantasy, though less so. I'm told that Dark Shadows improves a lot after the fourth episode, but I found it impossible to get through the interminable-ness that was episode 1.
Game night is currently alternating boardgames and Exalted (which we've only done characters for but I'm very much liking the look of it. Any game that's strongly influenced by Tanith Lee's Tales from the Flat Earth is more or less bound to be a winner with me!). Unfortunately, since last October, we've lost Andrew to Lancastershire, Lee to Mancunian-ville, and Chris Prime to evil, evil work (he's a tae kwon do instructor and for various reasons he now has to teach every night of the week (except possibly Sundays) which sucks. So now we're down to a core of three for role playing, which isn't an ideal amount. We have a couple of extra who join us for board games but they refuse to roleplay. Boo :( Looks like we'll have to go advertise for another player or two at some point.
It's a shame. After a few years of flux we'd found a perfect roleplaying group. Fun, easy-going and entirely without the bullshit politics that can so often be a problem. But hey, things change! Tis not always a bad thing, though sometimes it may seem that way!
Anyway, I must watch some trashy TV (final episode of season 1 of PLL tonight. It's getting rather intense *_*).
Have I posted The Hobbit trailer before now? I suspect I have, but I just watched it again. OH MY GOD, so looking forward to it. After the disappointments of some of the film versions of my other fave childhood books (The Dark is Rising, for example; and The Golden Compass (though I didn't read that in childhood, of course, but whatever) at least The Hobbit seems almost guaranteed to be a winner (**crosses finger**).
Oh, and have a random song. I've had the album this is on for a few years but this song suddenly became my favourite. It's bleak and sad but rather wonderful <3
Have fun, all! I hope you're well <3<3<3
