First know your zombie ...
Sep. 5th, 2009 01:32 amAKA One hundred words of silliness.
This resulted from the prompt "Establish exactly what kind of zombie you're dealing with", from
lareinemisere. It's very silly, and rather sweary, but I think it's sort of fun, and I'm severely tempted to expand it into a proper story. It would, if nothing else, be pretty cracktastic ;)
(I have no zombie icons, so Mitchell, from Being Human will have to do. He is, at least, undead ...)
First, Know Your Zombie
“We all know a shot gun to the head'll do it. You know anything that won't get pretty fucked up when you blow its fuckin' head off? That's not the point. The point's to not be in a position where you need to blow its head off.”
Donahue glares around the compound, at the rag-tag group assembled there.
“We're outnumbered and outgunned.” He glares again, at a skinny guy just clearing his throat to speak. “Figure of speech, yeah? Fuckin' Jesus.
“So, welcome to Zombie Orientation Training, Part 1. And no, there's no part 2. My little joke. Ha fuckin' ha”

Date: 2009-09-07 10:53 pm (UTC)Of course, I don't understand this at all so I adore it. :) Those last few lines were hilarious, really had me giggling. There isn't much I can say about this, really, so I hope this suffices.

Date: 2009-09-10 11:37 am (UTC)I got a cute little idea for a Luna/Ginny story last night (I've completely fallen in love with the pairing since you introduced me to it :)), and I actually managed to make an ok start on it (one good thing about being internetless at home I suppose). Hoping to finish it by the weekend. Maybe. We'll see :D

Date: 2009-09-10 08:32 pm (UTC)By the way, are you apart of the Ginny/Luna community? It doesn't have a whole lot of memebers anymore and it's basically me who posts there more often than not, but you can grab a reader or two. It's community.livejournal.com/ginnyxluna I'm pretty sure you have HP_Girlslash, too :)
Can't wait to see it!

Date: 2009-09-14 09:56 pm (UTC)Unsurprisingly, the story's going a little more slowly than I'd hoped. I write so slowly, it's depressing.
I'm maybe half way through though, and I actually have an idea of the full plot (such as it is), so it looks like I'll actually finish it. Yay :). It's only a silly little thing - a little bit of angst, a little bit of smut, but mostly fluff, rather a lot of fluff :) - but I'm rather enjoying writing it.
I'd heard that BBC America did some rather horrible things with the soundtrack of Skins. I hope they didn't mess around with episode 6 too badly (and I especially hope they didn't replace 'Believer' cos that would be a crime).
Just out of curiosity, what are you studying?

Date: 2009-09-14 10:25 pm (UTC)Oh yes, BBC America really poured a big hunk of shit on the soundtrack--pardon my French. They did replace Believer with a crap song that did absolutely nothing for the moment AND they cut almost all of the lake scene. I was so upset.
That can be an awfully long story, ha :) Basically, I'm much younger than I say, so I study quite a few different things. French is one of them.

Date: 2009-09-18 07:05 am (UTC)I'm not surprised you were upset. The lake scene is the heart of the episode, as well as being utterly beautiful. [I saw a response to a letter to BBCA yesterday that basically claimed scheduling issues. I don't know, seems disingenuous to me. Not censorship but timing issues? How about less Cook then? :D ].
And yep, cutting 'Believer' was a pretty stupid choice, especially as the reason usually given for changing songs on soundtracks is cost of licensing and I really can't believe that such an obscure song would cost that much to relicense.
I'm just glad you got to see it how it was intended to be seen first :)
So, not in your 20s then? That's sightly thrown out my mental image of you :) .
Age is sort of difficult on the internet, isn't it? It's so easy to form preconceptions based on it, even though it's not particularly relevant, in the scheme of things.
I'm a fair bit older than most of the people in the fandoms I inhabit (the ones who'll admit to their age anyway) and I rather worry sometimes that people will think that I'm there for reasons other than love of the shows and books.
I've been really enjoying rambling backwards and forwards with you, but given that you're so much younger than me I'd feel extremely creepy pretending to be something I'm not, even by omission, so I should probably mention that I'm in my 30s (*cough*37*cough*). I hope that doesn't freak you out, or anything.
Ho hum, work now. Grrrr. At least it's Friday.

Date: 2009-09-19 03:48 pm (UTC)They could have fit the lake scene in there if they hadn't had 6-7 minutes of commercials in between each break (which were only about 8-10 minutes at a time). (They need to figure it out like Gilmore Girls and do 15 minute slots, that always worked so well)
My theory on America is that they try to ruin the good things for us and that they can't accept that the UK makes much, much better television shows than we do. (Seriously, reality TV? No thanks)
Me too, otherwise... it would have been a disaster.
No, I'm not. I can look like I am, though :D
Well, that's exactly why I hide it. If people knew who I really, really was, I don't think I'd be taken seriously. Plus, if it ever happened, people bumping into me from RL probably wouldn't be the best thing.
I think you'd be surprised about how many people in the HP fandom are over 30. Most of the well known authors are. Personally, I don't think you're doing anything wrong from the rambles I've shared with you--you're just as sane as I am. :)
Oh no, that doesn't bother me in the slightest. And you live in the UK... one of my very closest friends lives in Brazil. She's older than me as well, but most everyone is these days. (It's something you get used to, believe me)
Oh Saturday. ♥ I told everyone that I was going to sleep forever and what did they do? Try to wake me up at 10:30.

Date: 2009-09-29 09:36 pm (UTC)3400 words in almost three weeks. Aargh. Now I remember why my MA dissertation was 4 months late :(.
I'm afraid the angst won out rather, which wasn't what I'd intended or hoped for but hey. You've just got to let the story go where it wants to go, I suppose.
I'd be very interested to hear what you think of it :)
In defense of US TV, there are some fabulous shows (Buffy, Firefly, Angel (yep, basically anything Joss Whedon has ever done, although I haven't checked out Dollhouse yet), The West Wing, BSG, Dexter and Gossip Girl are some of my favourites). Of course, we only see the good stuff over here and I'm sure there's some awful stuff as well, just as there's a huge amount of utter crap over here as well. It does seem like US TV does treat the shows that they do show appallingly badly though. Hacking it to bits and showing it in 10 minute chunks is just plain wrong :(
I'm loving Whisper, by the way :)

Date: 2009-10-01 12:46 am (UTC)Hey, it isn't a bad thing to span out your material. It's actually probably a really good idea, considering you have time to sort things out and not just do things on whim *coughmecough*
I didn't honestly think there was a great amount of angst, only at the end, but if I'm going to be really honest with you, I love angst fic, no matter how bad it can get.
I adore Dexter! I don't watch it as often as I used to because of schooling and all, but I saw most of the first season and some of the third. I loved it. I don't watch TV as much as I used to; really now, I don't have the time for it and what little free time I have, I spend on the computer :D
:) I wonder how long of a comment I'll get on that one...
